Dr Mathew Tung Yu Yee is a practicing Neurosurgeon in Neurosurgery Singapore. He was trained in advanced neurosurgical training in Singapore and in United Kingdom. He is also a Spine Specialist. Upon his completion of training in Neurology, he obtained F.R.C.S. (Surgical Neurology) in 1996. He is a fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore. During his extensive training, he worked in Tan Tock Seng Hospital and Singapore General Hospital (SGH). While in England, he served in Queen’s Medical Centre Nottingham, National Hospitals for Neurology and Neurosurgery.
Dr Mathew Tung specializes in treating and managing disorders of the brain, neck, thoracic, coccyx back pain. He performs epidural injection, back and spine operation, and pain relief. He uses minimal invasive techniques through modern endoscope-assisted techniques. Such techniques helps to access the pituitary adenoma, treat hydrocephalus and ventricular tumours. He is also able to perform Matrix tube spine surgery which very few neurologist is able to perform. As a Surgical Neurologist, Dr Mathew Tung performs operation for brain tumour using gamma knife and ETS surgery for excessive sweat. He continues his learning of medical education enthusiastically and tries to keep abreast of latest techniques by attending courses and attachments in Europe (SRS, SRT, spinal surgery and disc replacement), America (skull base approaches to acoustic neuroma) and China (endovascular techniques for vascular disorders).
With such wealth of knowledge and experience, Dr Tung is able to perform a wide variety services such as Spinal Decompression, Endoscopic Thoracic Sympathectomy for Sweaty Palms, Cervical and Lumbar Disc Replacements, Spinal Laminectomy and Facet Joint Injections, Microscopic Brain Tumour Surgery etc. In addition, Dr Tung has presented countless of lectures and presentations at several institutions in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia & China.
